How can you remain reliable despite polar temperatures?
problem
To guarantee movement even when the entire system is completely chilled.
application
All power units working in extreme low temperatures.
solution
The key to the solution passes through controlling the play in the system and creating a torque reserve by incorporating a small epicycle reduction gear train. The torque of the
stepper motor increases at low temperature but the solidification of the lubricants strongly diminishes the efficiency of the system. The proposed solution therefore limits the use of lubricants to a minimum. Instead, plastic materials with a low friction coefficient have been employed to achieve the desired result. It is thus possible to control the electrical current in the motor and boost it in case of low temperature. The developed system operates without problem down to a temperature of - 40°C while continuing to deliver the demanded forces.
