Revealed in February, the new VW Touareg features a world first in automotive front adaptive lighting technology: the glare-free high beam.
Unlike an adaptive high-beam system, the newest system continually and gradually adjusts not only the range of the high-beam, but also its pattern. Indeed the beam pattern changes its direction continually so that vehicles in front are not being illuminated, while the area surrounding them is being constantly illuminated at high beam intensity. The Bi-Xenon headlight’s modules are moved with linear actuators of the Swiss Mechatronics expert, Sonceboz.
Based on the reliable stepper motor technology, these devices integrate a position sensor in a very compact housing. They can withstand [-40°C; +125°C] and last more than 23 million degrees displacement at 60% duty cycle. The 2nd generation of this SUV sets a new standard in innovative driver assistance systems, which contribute to improve comfort and safety.
