The new 4256 Series torque motor is a brushless rotary actuator specifically designed for medium and heavy-duty applications, i.e. commercial and off-highway vehicles as well as stationary applications. It is extremely robust so that it exceeds applications life time and reduces drastically maintenance costs. The robust mechanical design of our standard passenger cars torque motor has been optimized to suit to the high reliability and service life requirements of this market segment.
Compact and with high torque boost capability, the 4256 Series is ideal for engine controls applications which require fast and accurate positioning such as Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valves and intake throttles bodies. Based on a direct drive concept with no gears, the reduced number of moving parts guarantees excellent reliability in a flat and compact design. It can be driven directly from the vehicle on-board electronic control unit, thus offering substantial cost-savings compared to other brushless actuators with integrated electronics.
The 4256 Series ideally fits applications where extreme temperature and vibration conditions prevail. Its reliability allows it to be implemented in applications meeting the latest worldwide environmental standards (e.g. EU and EPA). With a boost capability up to 1.5 Nm, i.e. 20% higher than the previous generation, or even more in 24 V systems, the 4256 Series is able to achieve full-stroke positioning times below 100 ms.
